Background
Dr. Wolfgang Darang is the Bavarian twisted madman/evil genius who makes his presence felt in the Chimp's adventures. Raised in a Munich suburb, his childhood was turned upside down when his mother left and his father became alcoholic. Darang had since fended for himself, not going into secondary education and studying by himself. While drunk, Darang's father would take him to seedy fetish places as a teenager, where he became interested in torturing women's feet, particularly tickling. Darang would go to an undisclosed German university to study Combined Engineering. Remarkably gifted in his field, he was also socially awkward due to his teenage upbringing and was bullied by his classmates. Even a female lecturer unfairly downmarked him. Despite that, he worked very hard and eventually got a PhD with 1st class honours. Darang would then embark on his reign of terror by getting revenge on his detractors in university, extorting money from the richest women in Germany through tickle torturing their feet so he fund his quest for power, building all kinds of machinery, some of which are used for torture purposes. Darang would suffer a huge setback when the Poisonous Monkey accidently destroyed most of his inventions and blueprints, hence why he targets girls the Chimp knows. While they end up being saved eventually, Darang will always be persistent in his pursuits.
• Darang was created in a comic in late 1998 which had his old mullet haircut, and featured Bey and Kitty in their school days.
• Dr. Wolfgang Darang was first introduced in June 2001 as the Poisonous Monkey's then arch-nemesis, torturing Bey and Kaysie.
• The basis of Darang's look and personality was from a villain in an old '90s cartoon, most likely to be James Bond Jr.
• Darang's look got reworked early 2004. His monocle and features were refined and based on Rutger Hauer from the film Nighthawks.
• Despite his bad early experiences with women, Darang is a womaniser, hence why got close with the rich German women he targeted.
• He never gets emotionally involved with anyone, and thinks relationships of any kind are a waste of time.
• A rare disease caused his weak eye, and wore glasses at university. He created the sight-enhancing monocle after graduating.
